Ministry Objectives: To lead members of Bethel Baptist Church in a manner of worship through music that is Christ-honoring and gospel-centered. We are currently blended but are more focused on content than style.

2. Must be a self-motivated team player who desires to work with the Pastoral Staff to see people reached with the gospel.

Music Field Qualifications:
1. Ability to lead worship services that are blended in style to reach various generations within the church body.
2. Ability to direct a praise team to assist in worship.
3. Working knowledge of sound equipment, power point, computers and video equipment.

Responsibilities:
1. Lead corporate worship Sunday morning and any other worship services (Christmas Eve, Maundy Thursday, etc).
2. Practice weekly with the praise team to ensure excellence in the worship service.
3. Perform other duties as assigned by pastor.

Philosophy: He shall also share these convictions with the congregation regarding the music of the church. The music of the church should be:

  • Theologically sound/Doctrinally rich (see Col 3:15-17) – it has to be able to teach biblical truth. It is meant for admonition. It is meant to cause the word to dwell in us richly.
  • God-centered – our songs should be more about who God is and what he has done than what we are going to do for God or how godly we are or will be; we want to communicate God’s love and we want to celebrate, but there needs to be reverence, fear and awe as well. We want to cultivate a deep joy that is fueled by an awe-inspiring view of God.
  • Musically appropriate – whether it is contemporary or classic or folk, the musical theme should be in keeping with the message without being trite or glib or too folksy or overpowering.
  • Congregational – the emphasis in the Bible is on congregational participation; a song should therefore be “singable” by the people, not just a few people.
  • Set the stage to hear God’s voice in the preaching of his Word – we believe the highest act of our worship service is the preaching of God’s Word, since God gives life and light through his Word. Thus the music serves the congregation best by serving the ministry of the Word, preparing the hearts of the people for the proclamation of the truth.
