Communications Director

PURPOSE

The Communications Director primary role is to present information on behalf of our church to reach the lost, equip the body, and share the gospel.

PRINCIPLE FUNCTION

Leads the creative communications process, including brand strategy, marketing, film, social media, content management, communicationenvironments, and overall brand experience. They are committed to developing an empowered and innovative creative culture by cultivating leaders who focus on the church's mission and vision.

EXPECTATIONS

  • Live an exemplary life modeling the call, character, and competencies of a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
  • Be a servant leader to his/her staff and teams of volunteers, the families, and the overall church body.
  • Grow personally in his/her own leadership and ministerial abilities by reading attending conferences and having godly and professional mentors in his/her life.
  • Be involved in the overall life of the church body by being a member, actively participating in ministry, church-wide events, and functions.
  • Be an excited and contributing member of the First Baptist Church Mt. Juliet ministry team.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Proactively develop strategies to clarify and communicate the weekly messaging of the church in partnership with leadership and ministry leaders.
  • Serves as an air traffic controller to organize and plan all communications Ensure messages are conveyed promptly.
  • Serve as the "eyes" for all things print and electronic, looking for clear communication, brand presence, and consistency.
  • Develop systems to organize, prioritize and communicate promotional items related to FBCMJ.
  • Overseeing the timely development and execution of vision, campaigns, and initiatives to ensure that goals are achieved.
  • Responsible for maintaining and updating the church website
  • Responsible for composing, editing, printing, review process, and all preparation of the Sunday bulletin.
  • Responsible for composing, editing, review process, and all preparation of church­ wide weekly email.
  • Compose and/or edit church-wide or specific ministry communications for all ministry areas as requested by ministerial staff.
  • Keeps ears open to stories of life change within the Develop ways to communicate those stories via video, interviews, etc. creatively.
  • Work directly with Senior Pastor to develop and promote print, digital and social media material weekly.
  • Stay current on creative, communications, and technological trends and looks for opportunities to use this information to communicate more effectively with the community and church family.

DIGITAL COMMUNICATION AND SOCIAL MEDIA

  • Lead all efforts related to the creation, strategy, and execution of FBCMJ digital communication channels.
  • Creatively build followings on various social media outlets, including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

  • Enlist, equip and encourage qualified volunteer teams and interns to accomplish communication
  • Educate staff and ministry leaders about procedures and processes for communicating church messages. Meet them where they are in their level of understanding and help them know what we do and why we do it and how they can contribute to the overall effectiveness of church communications.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) from a four-year college or university with a degree in art, graphic design, marketing, or communications is preferred.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Be present on-campus, unless prior intent to be absent has been submitted and approved, from 8:00 to 4:00PM Monday through Thursday, Wednesday 5:00PM to 7:30PM, and present during Sunday hours 7:00 AM to 12:30 PM
  • Attend all weekly Staff Meetings unless absence in approved by Senior Pastor/Interim Pastor.
  • The Communications Director must be a participating member at First Baptist Church Mt. Juliet by attending, serving, and giving faithfully.
  • The Communications Director must be able to manage multiple tasks while maintaining a pleasant attitude and positive ministry outlook.
