JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Youth Minister
POSITION CLASSIFICATION: Full-time
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Attend designated staff meetings.
2. Attend deacon's meetings.
3. Assist church leadership, other church ministries, opertions in the church office, and in other assigned duties as the Pastor sees fit.
4. Attend/support Georgia Baptist, Summerhill Baptist Association, and community ministerial meetings/activities as assigned and time permits.
5. Serve as a member of the Church Council, coordinate the youth ministry with the organization calendar and emphases of the church.
YOUTH RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Work with ministerial staff and the appropriate committees/ministry teams in planning, coordinating, implementing and evaluating the youth ministries of the church.
2. Ensure that each volunteer/worker/teacher has complied with the Child Protection Policy and training of FBC Dawson.
3. Teach youth Sunday school class, attend Sunday morning worship, lead Sunday evening youth activities, and lead Wednesday afternoon/evening youth bible study activities.
4. Be available for normal communication with members of the youth group during the work week (Sunday - Thursday) and for emergencies (if possible) via in person, phone, text, social media an/or other means of communication.
5. Be available to attend youth events/activities that may involve late hours, long travel, and/or overnight stays away from home, and support our youth in their activities and events outside the church.
6. Support chapel services for Terrell Academy and facilitate outreach efforts at Southwest Georgia STEM Charter School.
7. Prepare an annual youth budget for approval and administer the approved budget.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR YOUTH MINISTER:
INITIATIVE AND JUDGMENT REQUIRED: This position requires that ministry be done without direct supervision, and decisions must be made based on own experinece and judgment.
PHYSICAL DEMAND: Must possess physical ability to meet the requirement of the job.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must have a valid Georgia driver's license. Must be willing to submit to, and must pass pre-employment and randon drug testing at the will and expense of FBC Dawson. Must complete Child Protection Policy and Training of FBC Dawson.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Works closely with the Pastor, and is directly responsible to the Church for all work performed.
EMPLOYEES SUPERVISED: Supervises all youth personnel hired by the Church.
EDUCATION: Undergraduate dgeree, plus a minimum of two years seminary training or equivalent education experience preferred but not required.
PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE: Experience in the field of youth ministry preferred but not required.
ORDINATION AND CHURCH MEMBERSHIP: Membership in the First Baptist Church of Dawson is required. Ordination preferred but not required.
