Senior Pastor at Grassland Heights Baptist Church, Franklin, TN
Position Overview:
The Senior Pastor serves as a spiritual leader, providing direction and oversight to the church through preaching,
teaching, pastoral care, administration and outreach. The successful candidate will have strong ministerial
credentials and be able to provide clear doctrinal standards in accordance with the Baptist faith.
PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS
o Master’s or seminary degree.
o Minimum 3-5 years of proven successful leadership in a senior pastoral position.
o Commitment to the Baptist faith.
Responsibilities:
LEADERSHIP
o Serve as the primary spiritual leader, providing direction and inspiration to the congregation.
o Cast a compelling and God-inspired vision for the church's future, its impact, and its growth,
encouraging active engagement and commitment from the congregation.
o Collaborate with the leadership team to set strategic goals, action plans, and measurable objectives
that reflect the church's mission and values.
o Lead by example in pursuing a personal and intimate relationship with God, modeling the faith
journey for the congregation.
PREACHING AND TEACHING
o Proclaim God’s Word through preaching and teaching, emphasizing salvation through Jesus Christ.
o Prepare and deliver weekly sermons.
o Oversee special services and administer ordinances.
o Foster a deep understanding of scripture, theology, and doctrine among the congregation.
o Encourage spiritual growth through discipleship programs.
PASTORAL CARE
o Provide compassionate pastoral care to individuals and families in times of need, crisis, and
celebration.
o Offer spiritual guidance, emotional support, and counseling.
o Visit the sick, the homebound, current members, and prospective members.
EVANGELISM and MISSIONS
o Lead and engage in outreach initiatives that bring the message of hope and faith to the local
community and beyond.
o Promote, prioritize, and encourage congregational commitment to ministries focused on local,
national, and global missions in order to spread the Gospel.
ADMINISTRATION
o Lead and mentor the pastoral and administrative staff, fostering a collaborative and productive team
environment.
o Oversee the planning and execution of church services, programs, and events, ensuring excellence
and alignment with the church's mission.
o Lead the church in financial stewardship and fulfillment of an annual budget.
o Supervise all staff and paid personnel.
o Conduct staff meetings, council meetings, and church business meetings.
o Establish and maintain regular scheduled office hours.
o Collaborate with church leadership and governing bodies to ensure effective communication and
strategic alignment.
o Work with the local, state, national, and international Baptist associations as appropriate.
