Pastor of Discipleship Groups

Purpose

The primary purpose of all staff and support personnel is to fulfill the mission and vision of Faith Baptist Church as we advance God's Kingdom and serve together for His glory.

Skills, Experience, and Vision

The Pastor of Discipleship Groups must be:

• A born-again Christian, called, ordained, and committed to the evangelical commission of the New Testament Church
• Mature in thought and action with established experience as a leader of people on a church staff
• Excellent at communication, relationships, and leadership
• A self-starter and innovator who can strategically develop new initiatives, teams, and events
• Passionate about reaching individuals and families for Christ
• Compliant with the Biblical qualifications for Pastor (1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-16; 1 Peter 5:1-5)
• Affirms the Baptist Faith and Message 2000
• A master’s degree from an accredited seminary is preferred

Responsibilities

The Pastor of Discipleship Groups will have responsibilities along two lines. He will have pastoral responsibilities as do all Faith pastors and particular responsibilities relative to the Discipleship Groups role.

Pastoral Responsibilities:

• Day-to-day coordination of the discipleship leadership team
• Member care in hospitals
• Soul care through counseling
• Decision time counseling
• Leadership to both the staff and lay leaders of the church
• Preaching as assigned

Discipleship Groups Responsibilities:

• Responsible for leading the Coordinators of Discipleship, Assimilation, Men’s Ministry, Senior Adult Ministry, Young Adult Ministry, and the Director of Women’s Ministry
• Responsible for direction of Sunday morning Connection Classes, Sunday Evening Community Groups, and Discipleship Groups
• Employ innovative means to cast vision, build unity, elicit cooperation, and promote team effectiveness among the staff
• Provide vision and pastoral leadership for various groups
• Provide continual education, enrichment, and engagement with group leaders
• Help group lay leaders assess the health and structure of their groups
• Ensure leaders have all the components necessary to build a strong group
• Review curriculum for all adult discipleship classes
• Align his vision for all types of discipleship groups with the overall vision of Faith Baptist Church
