Job Title: Pastor (Senior/Lead Pastor)
Church Overview
River of Life is a Baptist church committed to preaching the Word of God, making disciples, and serving our community in accordance with God’s word. We are prayerfully seeking a pastor called by God to shepherd our church with humility, faithfulness, and a heart for ministry.
Position Summary
The Pastor serves as the spiritual leader of the church, responsible for preaching, teaching, pastoral care, and providing leadership that advances the mission and vision of the church. The Pastor will work in cooperation with church leadership, deacons, and ministry teams to nurture spiritual growth and unity within the congregation.
Key Responsibilities
Spiritual Leadership & Preaching
- Preach biblically sound, Christ-centered sermons consistent with Baptist beliefs
- Teach and uphold the authority of Scripture
- Lead worship services, ordinances (baptism and the Lord’s Supper), and special services
- Provide theological leadership and spiritual direction for the church
Pastoral Care
- Provide pastoral counseling and spiritual guidance
- Visit members who are sick, homebound, or hospitalized
- Officiate weddings, funerals, and other pastoral services
- Pray regularly for the congregation and church ministries
Leadership & Administration
- Work with deacons, committees, and church leadership to guide church operations
- Lead staff and volunteers in a collaborative, servant-leadership manner
- Help develop and implement the church’s vision and goals
- Moderate or participate in business meetings as required
- Support and encourage church ministries and outreach efforts
Discipleship & Outreach
- Promote spiritual growth through discipleship, Bible study, and prayer
- Encourage evangelism and community outreach
- Foster missions involvement locally and globally
- Equip members to use their spiritual gifts in service
Qualifications
- A clear calling to pastoral ministry
- Agreement with Baptist doctrine and church statement of faith
- Ordained or willing to be ordained in a Baptist church
- Formal theological education (seminary degree preferred but not required)
- Demonstrated ability to preach, teach, and lead effectively
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills
- High moral character and a Christ-like lifestyle
