Pastor of Young Adults / Discipleship Associate

Reports To: Discipleship Pastor
Status: Full-Time
Schedule: Sunday, Monday–Thursday (regular office hours)

Position Summary

The Pastor of Young Adults / Discipleship Associate provides leadership, shepherding, and strategic oversight for the church’s Young Professionals and Young Married Couples ministries while supporting the broader discipleship efforts of the church. This role focuses on spiritual formation, relational connection, and ministry development, helping young adults grow as mature followers of Jesus and become fully integrated into the life of the church.

Primary Responsibilities

Young Professionals Ministry

• Lead and oversee all aspects of the Young Professionals ministry.
• Provide intentional discipleship, pastoral care, and spiritual leadership to individuals in this life stage.
• Develop ministry rhythms, gatherings, and pathways that encourage biblical community and spiritual growth.
• Collaborate with the College Pastor to ensure a smooth and relational transition from college ministry into Young Professionals.

Young Married Couples Ministry

• Lead and oversee all aspects of the Young Married Couples ministry.
• Provide discipleship, care, and encouragement to young married couples.
• Continually evaluate and pursue new opportunities, resources, and approaches to strengthen marriages and foster community.
• Equip, develop, and support leaders within the ministry as it grows.

Discipleship Associate Responsibilities

• Support the Discipleship Pastor in advancing the church’s overall discipleship vision and strategy.
• Participate in the development, coordination, and execution of church-wide discipleship pathways, groups, and training environments.
• Provide pastoral care through hospital visits, member follow-up, and crisis care as assigned.
• Assist with teaching, facilitating, and leading discipleship classes, studies, and short-term training experiences.
• Provide supply preaching and teaching as needed in various ministry contexts.
• Help identify, equip, and encourage emerging leaders within the church, particularly among young adults.
• Collaborate with other pastors and ministry leaders to ensure discipleship efforts are aligned and integrated across ministries.
• Commit to ongoing personal spiritual growth, theological development, and ministry skill development.
• Perform other pastoral and ministry responsibilities as assigned by the Discipleship Pastor in support of the church’s mission.

Qualifications & Expectations

• A clear and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a calling to pastoral ministry.
• Completed seminary degree (MDiv or equivalent preferred).
• Demonstrated ability to lead, disciple, and shepherd young adults and young married couples.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a pastoral team and church staff structure.
• Agreement with the church’s statement of faith, mission, and values.
