Purpose:    To provide the chief visionary leadership and oversight to the Children’s Ministry (birth – 5th grade).

Reports to:  Lead Pastor

Oversight to:  Children’s Nursery Director & Paid Nursery Workers

Requirements:

  1. This position will be responsible to the Lead Pastor for developing and conducting comprehensive ministry to preschoolers, children, and their families.
  2. This position will perform duties under the general direction of the Lead Pastor of Eastanallee Baptist Church.
  3. This position will be a permanent full-time position.
  4. This person must be a Christian and an active member of Eastanallee Baptist Church. (Willing to become an active member if currently not a member).
  5. This person must show evidence of a spiritual calling from the Lord to the preschool and children’s ministry of this church.
  6. This person must be well versed in the work of our denomination and possess those qualities of leadership that will enable him or her to effectively administer the preschool and children’s ministry of the church.
  7. Must either have or be working on a four-year degree from an accredited college with an emphasis in child development, education, and/or early childhood education or have experience equivalent to an earned degree.
  8. Must have at least one year of experience in this type of ministry.
  9. Must be able to supervise the programs and workers (paid and volunteer) of the entire children’s ministry.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop a clearly defined vision and strategy for discipleship within the Children’s Ministry that works in conjunction with the overall vision and ministry of Eastanallee Baptist Church.
  2. Develop preschool/children ministry options through existing programs and create new programs that will glorify God, fall in line with the mission, add to the body, and reach the un-churched.
  3. Evaluate the effectiveness and value of all preschool ministries and provide ongoing direction accordingly.
  4. Build, equip, and encourage the Children’s Ministry Leadership Team, which consists of key committed and gifted volunteers.
  5. Lead, recruit, train, and develop volunteers for the Children’s Ministry.
  6. Develop and implement strategy for whole-family discipleship; working with families to equip and empower parents/families to disciple their children.
  7. Provide oversight and planning for all aspects of Children’s Ministry programming, including:
    1. Sunday morning Children’s Worship/Preschool Rotation
    2. Wednesday Night programming
    3. Sunday School
    4. Specialized Classes
    5. Outreach events
    6. Family events/programming/4th of July/VBS/Revival/Summer Camp/Harvest Fest
    7. Curriculum selection/development for all programming
  8. Provide oversight to Children’s Ministry budget and help develop the budgetary needs for upcoming years.
  9. Help develop and implement security and background checks for Eastanallee Baptist Church.
  10. Be a liason to Valley Christian Academy who works in close relationship with their principal/headmaster so that shared space is coordinated and works productively for both ministries.
  11. Seek to build ministry partnerships with other children’s ministries and ministers throughout the community.

Secondary:

Work as a team player with the rest of the ministerial and support staff. This includes making every effort to attend all staff functions (i.e. – staff meetings, retreats, planning sessions, etc.)

Participate and provide support and leadership (when necessary) in church-wide events, even if they do not directly affect the Children’s Ministry.

Share in the responsibility of ministerial responsibilities, including, but not limited to:

  1. Hospital visits
  2. Leadership at certain events
    c. Team preaching- if this position is filled by Pastor
