CHILDREN’S MINISTRY DIRECTOR 

PURPOSE

To reach kids for Christ so that they love God, love others, and live on mission.

EXPECTATIONS

  • Be a servant leader to his/her staff and teams of volunteers, the families, and the overall church body.

  • Be involved in the overall life of the church body by being a member, actively participating in ministry, supporting the church, church-wide events, and functions.

 RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Cast the vision for a vibrant Children’s Ministry that will allow kids to experience God, (not just learn about Him) in a relevant and relational way. 
  • Provide leadership and training to Kids Ministry Staff team.  
  • Develop a dynamic children’s ministry leadership team and volunteers through providing resources and training and implementing appreciation strategies.
  • Develop an active outreach and missions ministry to preschoolers, elementary children and their families.
  • Plan, organize, staff, and coordinate engaging events for children and families (VBS, Camp, Fall Festival, Midweek, Etc). 
  • Train, staff and implement ministries to children with special needs and their families. 
  • Provide support and development for W.R.A.P. Ministry (Orphan Care)
  • Be actively involved in local elementary schools 
  • Plan and lead weekly chapel services for our campus school, Mount Juliet Christian Academy 
  • Cultivate relationships with faculty and staff of MJCA
  • Shepherd and counsel children on salvation and baptism
  • Develop and implement policies for the safety and security of children, including but not limited to effective use of check-in and check-out technology. 
  • Assist Preschool Coordinator in the planning and participation in parent/child dedication services and classes 
  • Hire, supervise, and train Children’s Ministry paid staff 
  • Facilitate the sharing of space with MJCA faculty and staff
  • Help Facilitate the staffing for babies/preschool worship care and kids ministry during agreed upon church-wide events 
  • Use effective modes of communication including emails, Facebook, Twitter, mailings, etc. designed to keep families engaged and informed of current programs, projects, and opportunities.
  • All other duties assigned

 QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong personal relationship with Jesus Christ as evidenced by spiritual maturity and a close consistent walk with Him 
  • Strong Team player and builder who can help unify and inspire leaders. 
  • Supportive and engaging with senior pastor and all other ministerial and support staff.
  • Embrace a vibrant vision for Children’s Ministry consistent with FBC Mt. Juliet mission statement. 
  • Commit to and support the theological and doctrinal stance of FBC Mt. Juliet and the Southern Baptist Convention
  • University graduate, preferably with a complimentary major to enhance ministry to children; Seminary education or equivalent experience and training in Christian Education or within a ministry context
  • Continue to study and grow in knowledge and practical ministry strategies current with culture, trends, and societal changes 
  • Love kids and grant grace in discipline 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Possess and demonstrate competency in current technologies
  • Demonstrate strong conflict management and public relation skills 
  • Demonstrate flexibility and calm under pressure in changing and/or emergency situations

REQUIREMENTS

  • The Children’s Ministry Director must be a participating member at First Baptist Church Mt. Juliet by attending, serving, and giving faithfully.
  • The Children’s Ministry Director must be a committed Christian with evidence of a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • The Children’s Ministry Director must be able to manage multiple tasks while maintaining a pleasant attitude and positive ministry outlook.
