Job Description: Part-Time Youth and Children's Associate Pastor

Position Summary: Fellowship Baptist Church, located in the beautiful Upper Cumberland Region of Tennessee is seeking a passionate and dedicated Youth and Children's Associate Pastor to join our ministry team on a part-time basis (minimum of 20 hours per week). The ideal candidate will have a heart for nurturing the spiritual growth of children and youth, fostering their development in faith, and equipping them to live out their calling as disciples of Christ. This role involves developing, encouraging, and expanding children and youth programs, teaching foundational biblical principles, and occasionally providing pulpit supply in the absence of the senior pastor.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Ministry Development & Program Growth:
  • Lead and oversee vibrant programs for children and youth, cultivating an environment where they can grow in their faith.
  • Inspire growth by creating engaging and inclusive activities that encourage participation and spiritual development.
  • Identify and implement new opportunities to expand the ministry’s reach and impact within the church and the local community.
  1. Teaching and Discipleship:
  • Equip children and youth in the areas of evangelism, prayer, ministry, missions, fellowship, and discipleship.
  • Plan and deliver Bible-based lessons and training sessions that align with the church's mission and vision.
  • Mentor and guide children and youth as they navigate their spiritual journeys and faith challenges.
  1. Leadership and Collaboration:
  • Work closely with the senior pastor and church leadership team to ensure alignment with the church's overall mission.
  • Recruit, train, and support volunteers to assist with children and youth programs.
  • Foster a sense of community and fellowship among children, youth, and their families.
  1. Pulpit Supply:
  • Serve as pulpit supply in the absence of the senior pastor, delivering sermons and leading worship services as needed.
  • Provide pastoral care and spiritual leadership to the congregation when called upon.
  1. Compensation Package:
  • Competitive compensation commensurate with qualifications and experience.
  • Use of a parsonage to provide housing and support for the associate pastor and their family.

Qualifications:

  • A strong, personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a commitment to living out the gospel. Meet the standards set forth in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9.
  • Experience in children and youth ministry or related fields.
  • Solid understanding of biblical teachings, with the ability to communicate them effectively to children and youth.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • A heart for ministry and the ability to build meaningful relationships with children, youth, and their families.

Position Details:

  • Part-time role requiring a minimum of 20 hours per week.
  • Schedule may include evenings, weekends, and special events.
