Vonore Baptist Church, an SBC church in Vonore, Tennessee, is searching for a full-time Pastor of Student and College Ministries. The position will require an enthusiastic team player who possesses the God-given call and real-world skills to reach, teach, and equip students and young adults to lead Christ-centered lives.

 

Main Responsibilities

• Provide consistent leadership and collaborative team building as a member of the Ministry Team.

Safeguard theological accuracy while teaching biblically based lessons/sermons with real-world application across age ranges.

• Create and champion engaging worship, prayer, service, and community-building environments for students.

• Lead and equip students in personal evangelism. “Make disciples who make disciples.”  

• Ensure consistent connection with and growth of students by providing them with equipping, communication, and community opportunities to develop as disciples.

• Plan, promote, and execute local and global mission projects for students.

• Build and maintain a trusting and consistent connection with parents both in informational meetings and by regular communication.

• Maintain and monitor all communications for Student and College & Career Ministries including, but not limited to, email / group text, Sunday worship guide, website, social media, and local publications.

• Grow the Student and College Ministry Volunteer Team by active recruitment, providing consistent leadership, constructive feedback, and training opportunities.

 Create ways for parental involvement and volunteering to take place on a consistent basis.

• Engage and involve college students in the area via outreach, campus visits, events, and other avenues.

• Plan events, activities, service/mission opportunities, and camps for large and small groups.

Improve the quality of our student ministry service, evidenced partly by increased attendance and deeper participation.                                    

Maintain, monitor, and biblically steward ministry budget and accurately report spending/usage.                                 

Any other duties as required/assigned to further the overall mission, vision, strategy, and needs of the church.

Be in alignment with church's purpose, mission, values, strategy, and theological beliefs (Baptist Faith and Message 2000).

Meet the qualifications for pastoral leadership as described in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1.

Must be a cultural fit, but more importantly, a “cultural enhancer” for established team/staff/church.

High capacity for leadership coupled with humility, teachability, and dependability.

A commitment to be a pacesetter for growing the ministry in breadth, depth, and reach.

Demonstrate conflict resolution, creative thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Must lead and manage various aspects of the church’s ministry including numerous volunteers.

A successful record of planning and execution; an unquestioned ability to "get things done, whatever it takes."

A heart for students for students across age divisions (middle school to college/career-aged) and a desire for them to know Christ. 

Demonstrate a heart in building community and reaching the lost.

Strong teaching ability—able to teach the Bible accurately in engaging, creative ways. 

Maintain a high level of confidentiality. Be congenial, professional, and business-like in all personal contacts with others.

Exercise good time management skills and demonstrate strong work ethic

Maintain a high level of excellence in appearance, work habits, and quality of work performed.

Clear and effective communication skills (speaking and writing).

College degree / seminary training preferred. However, experience and God’s calling are more important. Continued training/education are expected as an ongoing process to enhance and increase ministerial capacity.

 

Reporting and Communication

This position reports to the Lead Pastor (Executive Pastor, if position is filled) and communicates appropriate information (both verbally and written) in an accurate and timely manner. Performance reviews and feedback will occur on a regular basis.

 

Salary and Benefits

Salary contingent upon education and experience. Benefits include, but not limited to, paid vacation and health insurance.
